Dr. Priscilla Muscat is a Senior Health Psychologist specialising in acute and chronic conditions and their management. She works within the Ministry of Health and Active Ageing, offering her services in assessment and therapy to support patients diagnosed with acute and chronic conditions at Mater Dei Hospital. She has also worked in rehab psychiatry, supporting patients with addictions and mental health conditions at Mount Carmel Hospital.
Her background is in psychology, with a Bachelor of Psychology (Honours) at the University of Malta and Health Psychology, with a Master's in Health Psychology at the University of Stirling. Following this, she has read for a PhD in Health Psychology with Kings College London, looking at the association between illness perceptions and clinical anxiety and depression and their interplay on psychological adjustment and disease prognosis in patients with chronic illness.
Dr. Muscat has presented in local and international conferences and teaches in the field of Health Psychology. She is also a researcher and has coordinated several research projects looking at psychological distress, chronic illness,and psychological adjustment, as well as problem gambling and gambling addiction. Dr. Priscilla Muscat serves as a board member for the Malta Psychology Profession Board. She is also a registered supervisor within the Health Psychology stream.
