Prof. Vincent Marmarà

Vincent Marmarà is an Associate Professor, Statistician and Researcher by profession. He obtained his first degree in Statistics,Operational Research and Mathematics at the University of  Malta. He later advanced his studies by obtaining a Master of Science in Statistics at Sheffield  University, UK. Furthermore, he has obtained his PhD in Mathematics (Statistics) from the  University of Stirling, Scotland. His PhD dissertation title was “Prediction of infectious disease outbreaks based on limited information”. He has been entrusted with numerous research projects both at a national and international level. He led research groups and analysed data to a high scientific level. 

Prof. Marmarà has been carrying out surveys/reports on a daily basis for these past 20 years.  During these past years Vincent worked on various research reports about several topics. Vincent occupied several key roles in various organisations. 

Prof. Vincent Marmarà lectures topics in relation to Statistics and Mathematics at the University of Malta. Marmarà is a fellow member (FRSS)of the Royal Statistical Society (UK). Prof. Marmarà provided research consultancy services to various organisations and supervised a number of BSc,  MBA and MSc research dissertation students at the University of Malta. Vincent published several academic articles in international journals and other scientific surveys in Malta. His main research interests are sampling techniques, epidemiology and health research. Prof. Marmarà currently occupies several positions, including a board member at the Malta Statistics Authority(MSA), a Member of the Governing body of the Faculty of Economics, Management and Accountancy (FEMA), and a Member of the Governing body of the Faculty of Science. 

He took leading roles in Malta in relation to nationwide surveys,the ‘State of the Nation’ project, political surveys, and mathematical epidemiology. His work is highly prominently reported in all local media.
