Course Description

This Level 7 programme will require you to critically evaluate, challenge and synthesise a wide range of current management tools, techniques and models. Specific emphasis is placed on current management concepts and models which are relevant to the 21st century business environment and context and go beyond the normal examination of Anglo American management models.

Upon completing the dissertation students will gain the skills to identify research topics and create comprehensive proposals, including literature reviews, methodologies, participant plans, and timelines.

Throughout, students will engage in supervision meetings, receiving feedback on sections/chapters to refine their academic writing and address concerns early.

This research will be focused on a topic of the student's choice, resulting in a critical research study showcasing thorough research, appropriate investigation methods, and methodical work.

The final phase will involve thorough editing to ensure consistency, coherence, and cross-referencing among document components for a polished, cohesive outcome.

How will you learn

This degree is delivered with a flexible classroom-based method, through a variety of course materials, case studies, discussions, presentations, enquiry-based learning and problem-solving activities. We provide you with key reading and research activities, and you will make the most of our own teaching portal.

Lessons will be held in class in our premises at Domain Building, 102/104, Constitution Street, Mosta.

Assessment

Assessments will be designed according to the guidelines of each module specification. In general, the assessments will enable learners to demonstrate achievement of learning outcomes across the individual elements of the programme. The range of assessments utilised will normally include: essays, reports, presentations and other structured assignments and examinations.

Assessments are drafted in conjunction with the curriculum development department and tutor concerned. Final version is confirmed by the curriculum development department.

Assessments are moderated by tutor concerned, then also verified by the Internal Verifier.

Structure of Programme

The self-study component of our programme is a critical aspect of our students’ educational journey, providing the opportunity to individually explore and consolidate the knowledge gained during formal teaching sessions. The following elements are integral to this independent study phase:

Reading of Recommended Textbooks: Our curriculum is supported by a carefully curated list of textbooks, which are essential to providing foundational knowledge and theoretical frameworks. Students are expected to engage in thorough reading of these texts to understand the core concepts and principles relevant to each module. This deepens their comprehension and equips them with various perspectives and approaches to business management.

Engagement with Articles and Case Studies Discussed in Lectures: Lectures often introduce complex ideas and real-world scenarios through academic articles and case studies. During self-study, students are expected to read and critically analyse these materials. This exercise is designed to help students apply theoretical concepts to practical situations, develop critical thinking, and gain insights into effective problem-solving strategies in a business context.

Review of Additional Notes and Case Studies on the Online Learning System: The programme leverages an advanced online learning system to provide students with supplementary materials. This may include extended notes, case study analyses, or industry reports that build upon the topics covered in class. The online system also serves as a platform for interactive learning through forums and discussions, which are integral to the self-study component.

Students are responsible for regularly reviewing these additional resources, which are designed to enhance their understanding and retention of module content. The inclusion of these various self-study elements ensures that our students are not only well-versed in theoretical knowledge but are also capable of applying this knowledge in a way that is reflective, informed, and relevant to the contemporary business landscape.

Reassessment Procedure

Should a student fail to achieve a passing grade (below 50%), they will be granted a single opportunity to retake the examination for that specific unit.

Should the student again fail to secure a passing grade on this retake, they will be presented with the option to retake the entire module from the beginning.

Entry Requirement

Any MQF/EQF Level 6 Bachelors Degree in Management, Business or

Any other area deemed fit by management with a minimum of 2 years in a junior management role.

Or

Any MQF/EQF Level 4 Diploma in Management, Business or

Any other area deemed fit by management along with a minimum of 5 years’ work experience in a managerial position,

Good English level at 6 IELTS or equivalent is a must since the MBA is delivered in English. (Does not apply to English speaking countries or students who did a first Degree in English). An appropriate test to show the 6 IELTS might be required through for example Pearson Test of English (PTE)

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL):

Domain Academy values both formal education and experiential learning. For entry into our MBA programme, we recognize prior learning that is equivalent to master’s level credits. Candidates who may not fully meet the formal entry requirements but can demonstrate relevant, substantial professional experience equivalent to this level are encouraged to apply.
